How we met & Wedding details:
My husband and I grew up in the same hometown of Stillwater, MN- but we miraculously did not meet until a mutual friend's 21st Birthday party! It was a super fancy dinner and we were taking a limo into the Twin Cities to go to some swanky dance club- but neither Andy or I were savvy with the "club scene" so we were both way over dressed. He was wearing a gigantic suit of his dad's and I had borrowed my mom's mink coat for the occasion. We both stuck out like sore thumbs. We always said it was love at first sight.
Meanwhile, I was finishing school and Andy was just about to move to Los Angeles, so our love would have to wait. We reconnected 3 years later and dated long distance for about a millisecond before I decided to throw caution to the wind and move out to LA. The rest is history!
One of our favorite things is taking road trips to explore California, and on our very first one we discovered the quintessential "So Cal Beach Town" of San Clemente. It always stuck with us, so when we set out to find our wedding venue, we did not have to look far. The Casino San Clemente is a dancehall built in the 1930's and stars like Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney performed on it's stage. We felt it was a perfect fit for us since we both love music and movies. Added bonus- it was right on the beach!
If I had one piece of advice it would be to just...not over think it. Full disclosure: I read variations of that advice a hundred times before our wedding and I just didn't take it to heart. I stressed about so many little details- and at the end of the day I never even noticed them because we were having so much fun in the moment! So craft if you love to craft. Otherwise, go ahead and skip those gilded place cards, and don't look back :)
