How do you pick out a dress your friends can wear again?

If it is important for you to find a dress you feel your friends can wear again, think about your own style when looking at dresses. Is the color and cut something you yourself would wear to another event or as a guest at another wedding?

When choosing colors think about sticking with neutrals. Most girls will wear a dress again if it is brown or black or in one of the hot trendy colors, such as green. However, if your color scheme dictates that the color of the bridesmaid dress has to be very specific, you are running the risk that they will not be able to wear it again regardless of the dress style.

While it may seem like a simple solution to let your wedding party choose their own black dress, that can be more stressful and worrisome for the bridesmaid. I've had a lot of bridesmaids come into the store because their friends were nice enough to allow them to choose a dress, but the amount of options can be overwhelming. They aren't only shopping to please themselves, but also to please you.

If you want to give your friends the freedom to pick out a dress they like, I would suggest choosing a neutral color such as black or brown and then allowing them to pick out the style that they like this best. This will almost guarantee that they will wear it again and it will be something that you will not have to be worried will work together on the day of your wedding.
